Centrum Silver Women 50 Plus is quite a popular supplement specifically designed for women over 50. On Amazon it has a stunning rating of about 4.5 out of 5. Therefore, it seems like a great multivitamin supplement to have and use.

All in all there are some assertions on benefits of consuming Centrum Silver Women 50 Plus made by the manufacturer. However, are they actually true? Does this supplement truly make you better? Or is it rather something you shouldn’t count on?

*This is the second article in two article series about this supplement. If you like a more scientific approach with references considering every ingredient of the supplement, take a look at the first review I did on this supplement.*

Centrum Silver Women 50 Plus Supposedly Has More Vitamin D and Calcium

From the assertions on the description page it is indirectly implied that this supplement has more Vitamin D and Calcium than other supplements. However, while this might be true on the most part, it has another side of that.

Overall Assessment of Vitamins for the Centrum Silver Women 50 Plus

This supplement provides 1000 IU of Vitamin D, which isn’t all that different from what some among the best multivitamin supplements like ProThera MultiThera 1 Capsule Formula Plus Vitamin K or Douglas Laboratories Ultra Preventive has. In fact, it’s exactly the same amount.

As for Calcium, although 300 mg may seem like more than most multivitamins provide, it is important in what form it is. The forms that Centrum Silver Women 50 Plus has are some of the worst possible. Therefore, although it may seem somewhat a lot, your body won’t be able to absorb it as efficiently. And ultimately, it won’t be that beneficial.

So, what is that another side I mentioned?

It is that pretty much every other nutrient that this supplement has is in amounts that are less than sufficient for optimal health (see Prime Daily Values). Furthermore, most of the nutrients come in poor or average forms, which only adds to the overall badness.

They Say “It’s The Most Complete Multivitamin” – Is It?!

Overall Assessment of Minerals for the Centrum Silver Women 50 PlusI believe this is what they write next to all of their silver supplements, because this was also mentioned in the description page of Centrum Silver Men 50 Plus. What they say is that “Centrum® is backed by over 35 years of nutritional science to bring you the most complete multivitamin.”

While they most probably are in a sense backed by 35 years of nutritional science, because it’s probably the age of the company, the other part of the statement is way too bold and obnoxious.

As I superficially understand from this statement alone and I believe most other people would, is that it’s as complete of a supplement as it can get. But it’s not like that at all.

To round off its completeness it lacks Boron, Choline and Inositol. And yeah, for some this may not seem a lot, because it has 25 other essential daily nutrients. However, I already mentioned that most of those are both in forms and amounts less than optimal to provide great health.

Ultimately, looking at the best kind of multivitamins it’s clear that Centrum Silver Women 50 Plus is not the kind of supplement that is the most complete one. This is because it’s no where near as good as those best kind of multivitamins.

5 Things Why You Should Avoid This Supplement And Never Use It

1. Nutrient Forms And Amounts Are In A Bad Shape – Won’t Benefit You Much, If At All

I briefly already touched upon this, but this is one of the biggest No’s about this supplement.

Even if the supplement had a list of perfectly harmless additives, it still wouldn’t be worth to have it. The amounts of every nutrient (with rare exceptions) are way too insufficient to achieve optimal health. Ultimately, they would only be enough to avoid deficiency diseases. But that is not the definition of great health (see more on Prime Daily Values).

Centrum Silver Women 50 Plus Has Miserable Amounts And Forms Of Nutrients On The Most PartAnd let’s get one thing straight. Even if the additives were harmless, the forms of those nutrients most of the time come in the cheapest for the manufacturer forms possible. Therefore, not only will your body not be able to absorb as much, but also by buying this supplement you don’t really get a good value for your money.

A fan fact is that in it’s essence Centrum Silver Women 50 Plus is just a cheaper and inferior version of Centrum Silver Men 50 Plus. Therefore, even if you were to decide to use a Centrum supplement, you should rather use Centrum Silver Men 50 Plus no matter of your gender.

But Please Don’t!!!

2. There Are Way Too Many Harmful Additives

Speaking of additives, remember few sentences ago I said “if it were to have harmless additives”. And there is a reason for that.

So, for those, who do not know, Centrum supplements are one of the most abundant supplements in terms of additives. And not in a good way. For example, Centrum Silver Women 50 Plus has 18 additives.

And as you might have imagined, not all of them are harmless to your health. For example, it has stuff like Artificial Colouring, Hydrogenated Palm Oil, Talc in it. Artificial Colouring and Talc cause cancer, Hydrogenated Palm Oil is that same trans-fat, which is one of the worst substances to consume. Period.

Of course, these three does not round off all of the harmful ones, but just give you an idea of how bad it is.

With The Kind Of Additives Centrum Silver Women 50 Plus Has You Will Deteriorate And Worsen Your HealthI myself personally think that any nutrients that this supplement has will get in essence counter-acted with those harmful additives. And therefore, ultimately by taking this supplement you will not improve your health – you will rather worsen and deteriorate it.

But it’s kinda stupid to pay your money for something that will do that, that will not provide you benefit, don’t you think? Especially, because you would be just better off without it and consuming it doesn’t really bring any kind of bliss or joy.

3. Vanadium Is In A Harmful Form

Vanadium in Centrum Silver Women 50 Plus comes in a form of Sodium Metavanadate.

Studies on this form of Vanadium have proved that it is possibly very harmful. Ultimately, it is another inducer of cancer.

4. Iron Is Not Really Something That Is Needed In This Supplement

As the name and the description page of the supplement suggest, this supplement is directed at women at 50 or over. Hence, to women that typically no longer have menstruation (after menopause).

You Don't Need Iron In Your Supplement Unless You Are A Menstruating WomanHowever, Iron supplementation is only needed for menstruating women due to the iron loss during menstruation.

And for everyone else having Iron in your supplement can actually lead to a disease, like heart disease, diabetes, liver damage and other serious health issues. This is because most of us (only some human groups excluded) are more than likely to acquire the needed amounts from our diet.

5. Nickel Is Something To Avoid In Supplements

Nickel Can Be Found In Our EnvironmentAdditionally the supplement also offers Phosphorus, Chloride, Silicon and Nickel. And although it may seem that the more various different nutrients there is in a supplement, the better, but this is not the case.

Phosphorus, Chloride and Silicon are okay to supplement in sensible amounts, but you don’t really need to do that. Diet is enough. As for Nickel, however, not only supplementation with it is purposeless, but it most likely will turn out to be harmful as excess amounts of it is straight out toxic.

The Take Away Message On Centrum Silver Women 50 Plus

Centrum Silver Women 50 Plus is a supplement you shouldn’t ever use.

Not only are the nutrients in amounts and forms that are way less than sufficient, but it is also in it’s essence a nest of harmful additives. And then there are some nutrients that will not help, but will do exactly the opposite.

Ultimately, this supplement is way more likely to bring sickness than health. Don’t use it. And if you are using it, just throw it out. You’ll save money that way by later not needing to buy as much medication or special supplements to counter the negative effects that this one had.

Despite the existence of these kind of supplements, there are also great supplements that will improve your health and make you better.

Therefore, if you ever decide to get a multivitamin supplement, use this list as your guide.

      Hey, Tiffany!

I’m glad you found it helpful.
The sad part is, however, that many people aren’t. That most probably is why this supplement is so popular. It’s extremely well marketed.

Cheers! And have an awesome day.
