But will it be appealing to your health?


The Tricalcium Phosphate Is A Very Average Form


Any mineral form in a supplement is extremely important because it largely determines how easily the body can acquire the active ingredient (in this case Calcium) out of it, which then can actually benefit you.

Milk And Cheese Are Some Natural Sources Of CalciumIn the case with Vitafusion Calcium, the Calcium form that it offers – Tricalcium Phosphate – is neither the best nor the worst but all in all far from what is considered to be the most effective one.[5] [6] [7] [8] [9] [10] [11] [12] [13]

There are a whole bunch of amino acid chelates way more effective with the most effective one being Calcium Orotate.[14] [15] [16] [17] [18] [19]

Also, the Calcium Citrate form is a great choice suggested by many top professionals.[20] [21] [22] [23] [24] [25] [26]

Thus, at the end of the day, ideally, you would want one of those. With the Tricalcium Phosphate, you’re kinda left short-handed.

I mean, it will account for some benefit but by no means, Vitafusion Calcium should be regarded as a top-quality supplement.


Calcium Amounts Per Serving Are Somewhat Okay


While the daily optimal Calcium dose we should intake is about 1200-1500 mg (others suggest it to be between 1000 and 1200 mg), only a maximum of 800 mg of that should be acquired through supplements.[27] [28] [29] [30] [31] [32] [33]

Egg Shells Are Quite Abundant In CalciumThus, the ideal amounts are regarded to be somewhere between 600-800 mg of Calcium daily. On that same note some suggest that men shouldn’t take more than 500 mg through supplements. Vitamin D & Phosphorus Serve As Additional Nutrients


To make up somewhat for its shortcomings the Vitafusion Calcium also offers vitamin D and Phosphorus.

Vitamin D is available in amounts of 1000 IU or 25 mcg. The best part about is though that unlike Calcium this vitamin D comes in the best form possible.[38] [39] [40] [41] [42] [43] [44] [45]

Through Exposure Of Direct Sunlight Our Bodies Produce Vitamin D3 (Cholecalciferol)The vitamin form is called Cholecalciferol and it is that same vitamin form that our skin produces when exposed to sunlight.[46] [47] [48]

As for the Phosphorus, it is a by-product of the Calcium form present in the supplement. In other words, it is what will get exposed to your body for absorption through breaking down that same form that the Calcium is in – Tricalcium Phosphate.

In truth, though only 50% of this is useful. Meaning although Phosphorus is an essential nutrient for human well-being it is considered to not be needed to be supplemented. You will get enough of it from food alone for your best health.[49] [50]

While at the same time, vitamin D is a pretty important one because many people spend way too less time outdoors and thus, are vitamin D deficient (most unknowingly).

At the end of the day, these two substances do not add too much value to the supplement.


It’s Crammed With Sugar – So Much For Additives


Vitafusion Calcium Review – AdditivesI’ve done a brand summary on Vitafusion in the past and generally all of them struggle with additives.

Sadly this supplement is no different.

Vitafusion Calcium contains the following ingredients: Sugar, Glucose Syrup, Water, Gelatin, Canola Lecithin, Citric Acid, Colors (Annatto Extract, Blueberry and Carrot Concentrates, Purple Carrot Juice Concentrate), Lactic Acid, Medium Chain Triglycerides, Natural Flavors, and Pectin.

So, 14 additives in total. But to not make it too long we’ll only look at the most concerning ones.

Glucose Syrup Is Not Only Extremely Common In Gummy Vitamins But Also In Various CandyThe absolute most concerning one is the Glucose Syrup.

Here’s why? In truth, Glucose syrup is that same thing that the High Fructose Corn Syrup is. It’s only a different name. A different name developed and labeled to hide this devastating and hazardous substance both in foods and in supplements.[51] [52] [53] [54] [55] [56]

This is the exact substance that has made obesity and being overweight such an epidemic. Some estimates even say that on average more than 2 people in every three are either obese or overweight in US. The devastating effects of High Fructose Corn Syrup do not, however, end there. The second additive in the mix although slightly less devastating in its effects is still a major health concern. Sugar.

The consumption of this substance is linked to obesity, diabetes, heart disease, depression, aggressive behavior, hyperactivity, eating disorders and cancer. It doesn’t stop there, however, many believe that agressive consumption of this will quite literally make you stupid, and for many children will come in a form of learning difficulties.[83] [84] [85] [86] [87] [88] [89]

It’s one of the worst things you can choose to consume. Even more so in regards to your children.

Giving Children Stuff Like Vitafusion Calcium (A Supplement Full Of Sugar) Can Result In Learning DifficultiesAdditionally, the supplement also contains various colors. In this case Annatto Extract, Blueberry and Carrot Concentrates, and Purple Carrot Juice Concentrate.

The fact that these colors seem to originate from natural sources does not guarantee their safety. For example, Annatto can have some pretty nasty and unpleasant side effects.[90] [91] [92] [93] [94]

So, my advice to you would be to avoid them. Moreover, please do so if the colors in question are artificial ones as those have been proven to be toxic and causing quite a bit of health problems over a period of time.[95] [96] [97] [98] [99] [100] [101] [102] [103]

Lastly, there’s the Natural Flavors. Although many believe there is nothing harmless here because of the word “Natural” in front of the word “Flavors”, nothing can be further from the truth.[104] [105] [106] [107] [108] [109]

The referring to “Natural Flavors” is very deceiving for consumers but beneficial for manufacturers as most people associate being natural with being something good and healthy.[110] [111] [112] [113] [114] [115]

Various Flavorings Can Contain Very Harmful AdditivesIn reality, though, Natural Flavoring can contain harmful additives that are not listed on the label or ones that are so-called “incidental additives” and emerge during the manufacturing process. Both are not required to be listed on the label as long as they are considered to be part of the flavor.[116] [117] [118] [119] [120] [121]

Thus, natural flavoring is only okay if that particular supplement manufacturer subscribes to the highest of quality standards.

As regards to Vitafusion, that does not seem to be the case at all.[122]


Final Thoughts On Vitafusion Calcium


Apart from the taste, which is purely the accomplishment of absolute worst forms of additives – sugars, there is nothing going for the Vitafusion Calcium.

There are many much better Calcium supplement alternatives out there. There are many much better vitamin D alternatives out there.

In truth, Vitafusion Calcium is a very poor choice of supplementation, which not only will not provide you with solid benefit but will also later come back to bite you.

    Supplements scam is the order of the day in the last few years. Many supplements are outright scam looking for people to scam because they are mostly desperate people looking for solution at all cost, so it easy to get them scammed! You have spilled it out and we can make an informed decision with respect to Vitafusion Calcium.I was a victim of one last two years I wanted iron supplement but I got a supplement “concoction” with horrible taste and odour at $75 dollars per bottle so yes I understand and appreciate the need to call out scam supplements.Please leave me a contact email to send you the details of this “iron supplement” and get it reviewed too. My advice for anyone that need supplement please don’t buy online look for a local store where you can easily get back your money should you buy “iron supplement” like me (#giggles)

    It is saddening to know that supplements that were supposed to make up for what we lose in natural diets are actually depleting our healths.

    I can guess this supplement (Vitafusion Calcium) cost more money that it takes to get Cheese, Soy Beans, Cabbage, Broccoli, etc, which are more natural sources of Calcium. So why someone would get these supplements unless it is a doctor’s prescription beats my reasoning. I am not a fan of supplements, maybe because I realized it is easier to prevent ourselves from getting there (unless, unfortunately it is genetic) where we have to take them.

    Looking at the side effects of Vitafusion Calcium, I say its Cons are way far bigger than the Pros. They don’t just hit the balance. Obesity? Cancer? High Fructose Corn Syrup being named Glucose Syrup in a bid to cover up? No. I draw the line there. Honestly I wouldn’t advise anyone to take it or buy it.

    However, this is a great review.

    Thanks for this review on Vitafusion Calcium and how unhealthy it can be and all the suggestions to not take this as a supplement.

    It is a known fact that there are many supplements in the market and many consist on high addictive rates and this is one of the main reason I don’t like to use supplement every day. I take it between a day interval in order for the addictive part of the supplement not to have a great effect on my well being.

    It’s just my way of doing things.

      Additives aren’t all bad, it’s not that Black&White. They are really necessary to make the supplement technology possible. Yet they can be harmful. On that same note, if you choose one that is of harmless additives there is no need for that every other day.

Calcium strengthens bones, and calcium absorbs the body and needs to utilize Vitamin D all of these are nowadays known around. To prevent bone corrosion or to strengthen bones, buying calcium and vitamin decoration from the drug store is a common thing for many people. On average, an adult age of 1000 milligrams of calcium and 600 units of vitamin D is left. After menopause (menopause) women and seventy-five men are required to have a little more calcium-1200 milligrams. Pregnant and suckling mother also takes a little more. However, it has been found in the study that even in the developed western world, women accept less than 500 milligrams of calcium that is needed. Milk, curd, cheese, raw nut, soybean, walnut, marine fish, thorns, small fishes, black and green lobster, mint leaves, mustard seeds, pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds, shrimp drying, figs etc. are high calcium foods.     This is a well-detailed review of Vitafusion calcium. I am just getting to know men shouldn’t take more than 500 mg of calcium through supplements but I haven’t been observing this. From my own thought; I think we need to look into the advantages and disadvantages before purchasing this product.

    I like the way you have given the reader the freedom to choose whether or not they would like to consume this supplement or not.  Personally, I don’t like supplements for all of the reasons you’ve listed and it has been said that because the body cannot absorb all that is contained in the some supplements, they are flushed out the system and become an expensive wasted supplement!

    I believe there are many other ways to take in the vitamins and minerals needed to keep our body healthy and those ways are through eating healthy foods and vegetables, herbs and spices.  … .and the number one natural Vitamin D is sunshine!  As you’ve so aptly put it, we don’t spend enough time outdoors these days.  A walk in the park for a few minutes, or a day out hiking could provide the necessary Vitamin D we need, or even just a 10-15 minute Coffee Break outside in the sunshine would do it on a daily basis.  So much simpler than popping pills!

    My interest is the article stems from the fact that I am over sixty and I am always hearing that I might need calcium supplements. Guided by your review, I find a few things that would prevent me from purchasing this product. The high sugar, the additives, the form of calcium, and the amount provided as a daily intake are not what I would want. Also isn’t magnesium necessary for the absorption of calcium? We need some here. Thanks for your review. Apart from your facts, it is also a guide as to what to look for in a supplement.

      For Calcium absorption vitamin D is necessary, thus, many supplements offer a combination of both. Just like this one.
      As for Magnesium, it can actually interfere with the absorption. But that highly depends on the mineral forms.

    These supplements are not good for overall health and including the health of the bones. But as you mentioned, there are others out there. The better ones. When the bones get enough calcium, they don’t suffer bone loss or fragility such as osteoporosis and osteomyelitis. The only thing about supplements that I am always worried about is how genuine are the preservatives. Some preservatives are just so unhealthy. Like the ones in this Vitafusion Calcium.

    Nice post. This is nicely reviewed. I have not used Vitafusion Calcium before but my sister that playa basketball has been saying a lot about the Vitafusion Calcium on how it has really helped her by strengthening her bones to have really made her injury free for a very long period of time now. So, it can help but I think the possible tradeoffs are not worth it. Better avoid.
